Despite Australia banning engineered stone to protect workers from silica-related diseases, New Zealand has yet to act. The Government is consulting on control measures, but stronger protections are urgently needed to prevent further harm and encourage exposed workers to seek testing.

The current review of the Arms Act fails to recognise the importance of layering multiple firearm protections. A system-wide approach, like that successfully adopted in Australia, is proven to reduce gun-related harm.
